The ResMed S9 series offers an intuitive, colorful, and stylish look. With four clearly marked buttons and a large color display, adjusting settings has never been easier. A large push dial allows you to scroll through screens and make changes easily. The large color screen allows you know where you are scrolling and what setting you are adjusting by changing colors. The info button allows you to view compliance data and reports with a single push, and the large start button offers an easy one touch start. The sleek low profile design makes your CPAP look less like a sterile medical device and more like a standard bedside clock radio, further encouraging you to be consistent in using your therapy.

A new feature for the S9 series machines is the H5i humidifier. This humidifier adapts to the specific environment of your bedroom and adjusts the heat and humidification, so you receive the exact heat and humidification that you select on your machine

The S9 AutoSet combines an intelligent algorithm with Easy-Breathe expiratory pressure relief (EPR™) to dynamically adjust pressure for maximum comfort. Using ResMed's time-tested APAP technology, AutoSet continually monitors breathing, adapting breath by breath to always deliver the lowest therapeutic pressure, improving comfort and sleep. The S9’s enhanced AutoSet algorithm now differentiates between obstructive and central sleep apneas (CSA) and responds appropriately. You can be confident that you're always receiving optimal therapy at the lowest, most comfortable pressure.

ResMed introduces its new SlimLine Tubing with the S9 series machines. Exclusive to ResMed the SlimLine Tubing is 40% lighter, 20% thinner, and takes up 35% less space. Providing more flexibility and less drag with light weight materials, the SlimLine Tubing promises to be a favorite among CPAP users. In addition to this, ResMed introduces a smart-fit cuff design that makes it easier to attach and remove the tube from your mask and machine.

By enhancing the Easy-Breath motor with axial air-flow, foam, and noise isolating materials, ResMed has created an ultra quite CPAP machine. Measured at 24dBA (that’s no louder than normal breathing!), you or your bed partner will never be awoken by your noisy CPAP machine.

Both the S9 AutoSet & the S9 Elite have CSA and OSA detection. The enhanced Easy-Breathe motor features small diameter lightweight impellers that provide lower inertia. This enables the motor to track your normal breathing waveform and produce the small oscillations in pressure required to detect CSAs. It uses the forced oscillation technique (FOT) to determine the state of the airway during an apnea. When an apnea is detected, small oscillations are added to the pressure to measure airway patency. The CSA algorithm uses the resulting flow and pressure to measure airway patency and differentiate central and obstructive events. Your S9 AutoSet has the ability to compensate for these events with its enhanced autoset algorithm.

All the S9 series machines come with onboard and removable data storage. With a touch of the info button you will see a snapshot of your therapy. Data is stored on board for up to 365 days and includes average usage, used hours, days used, run hours, pressures, leak and AHI information. The removable SD card provides detailed graphical data and high resolution flow data that your physician can read.

By reducing pressure during exhalation, the patented EPR Easy-Breathe technology makes the adjustment to CPAP therapy easier and more natural for the user.

Do you ever have trouble knowing if your mask has a sufficient seal? With the Mask Fit option, your machine will run a quick diagnostic to let you know if your seal is sufficient. Simply select what type of mask you are using (Full Face, Nasal, or Nasal Pillows) put your mask on, from the Home screen push and hold the dial for three seconds. Your machine will perform a short 3 minute diagnostic and you will see on the display an “Adjust” or “Good” indicator, letting you know if you have a good fit.

Product Reviews for the ResMed S9 AutoSet™ w/H5i™ Humidifier (36015)

I will agree it is a very quiet machine with one exception. During a relaxed exhale, there is a "moan" sound that comes from the machine. It is fromt the machine, not the humidifier as it still does it without the humidifier attached. I took my machine back and tried 3 different ones. They all did it. The technician heard it as well. It is not very loud, but in a room at night with nothing going on, you can hear it for sure.

This machine is my first CPAP experience but so far I have not missed a night in over 60 days. The difference is remarkable in the amount of nagging little symptoms that are eliminated with effective CPAP therapy. If you get the ResMed S9 GET THE CLIMATELINE TUBING. This will make or break your therapy. Plus you will not have dry or sore throats hardly ever. Get the right mask (that is 9 tenths of the battle) and enjoy being normal again. Note the climate line tubing is only available with the H5i humidifier. I use the Quattro Mirage full face mask and sometimes I have to check because I don't notice any air pressure, but its set at 15. I don't even need to use the ramp up feature. This machine is so cool.

Since I must use a CPAP machine, I am glad my physician chose this one. It is very quiet and sheek. It looks like a small radio. I travel alot and I would like to have one that is smaller.

I love my machine! Very quiet and I never heard that moan sound during exhale like a review that I read on this site. Perhaps they all don't do that.I feel so rested when getting up in the a.m. I have the humidifer on my and it is so nice not waking up with dry nose or mouth. I am very pleased with my machine.

Amazingly quiet machine for an athletic guy in early 30s. I drilled a doorknob hole in the back of my night stand, ordered an extra long hose, ran an extension cord into the night stand and plugged a USB powered led light into the cord. Now my unit is 100% hidden with the hose coming up over my headboard. I just open the door to turn it on, add water right in there (have 2 gallon jugs next to it) and close it back up. I hear zero noise and it is out of sight.

This is my second cpap machine. The first needed to be retired after 10 years. The very quiet operation is remarkable. The humidifier works well and, although not a machine function, the improvement in mask fitment makes using this cpap remarkably non-intrusive.

I hardly hear the machine at all and the slight sound I hear is a very soothing whisper soft breathing sound. I am very satisfied with the machine.

I have had my S9 for 18 months and have not missed a night except when trying out various travel size machines. This machine is the quietest I have tried. It literally makes no noise at all. I am very sensitive to noise and can't fall asleep with any noise at all. This machine is perfect for me. The exhalation relief works great and it's easy to adjust. I use Sleepy Head software and the S9 gives me detailed and accurate sleep therapy information. It would be the perfect machine if it was a little smaller and more easily travelled with, although I've travelled extensively with it and it's manageable.

I've been using this machine for four years now. The first machine I tried was not automatic and I hated it, since going to the S9 I get a great nights sleep. I have never heard the moaning sound others are talking about, maybe they need settings adjusted or a different mask. I use nasal pillows.

This is my 3rd CPAP machine and I like all the features that my other machines lacked. However, even though it is very quiet I do hear the low moan that several others have commented on. My technician was not able to address this issue so I have since gone back to my old machine as I can't sleep with this sound!
