Let me first say - switching to the ResMed Swift LT will probably eliminate some of the leaks you are seeing in the Swift II - the LT is much better design for side sleepers as it is smaller and the cushion and tubing come of the front of the nose, not the side like the Swift II CPAP mask.

Developing redness in the area of the CPAP mask is not uncommon.
Most masks are made from silicone now, not latex. I always recommend wiping off your mask daily. Wash it in a mild detergent or if you have sensitive skin, try washing it in baby shampoo.
