RespCare Hybrid Universal Full Face Mask and Headgear

I ordered this mask based on the reviews. I received it yesterday (05/01/08), and used it for the first time last night. I am totally satisfied! I only woke up once briefly during the entire night. I have no pressure marks on my face, and no irritation in my nose from the nose pillows. In fact, this the first mask with nose pillows that did not cause irritation or pain. This is also the first mask I have not pulled off during the night--and tossed across the room! What a blessing! If you have had trouble with other masks and headgear; you need to try this!

I am hard to fit and have tried almost every mask out there. I have to admit that this Hybrid is a wonder mask. I like that my pressure feels lower with this mask. I'm sleeping 8 hours for he first time in 3 years.

I was unable to use a full face mask (Fisher & Paykel Forma Full Face CPAP Mask) that fully covered my nose. Due to a narrow nose bridge I could not get a good seal. After months of frustration I ordered the RespCare Hybrid Universal Full Face Mask and it worked! No pressure at the top of my nose or my check bones, no need for an additional chin strap, and a better fit. Not as claustrophobic. Had to make sure I use “ramp up” when starting the machine or my ears popped when the safety valve closed! I had to tighten the straps on the top of my head to get a good seal with the nasal pillows. A little irritation on my upper lip but expect that to go away after long term use. Getting a good night’s sleep!

This mask fits well, with no irritation points. I tried several sizing combinations before getting the best fit. I have tried 7 other masks: 3 nasal only, 3 full, and the ResMed Liberty hybrid (size small of that hybrid was too large for me). This mask is far better than the others for me. I have small features, and I need coverge for both my nose and mouth. I do wish this mask had better durability, though. The mouth cushion and nasal cushions appear to soften, age, and not seal well after a couple of months. Also, the headgear strap is not well made so it is getting floppy after about 2 months. The velcro tabs are flimsy, and they should be narrower than the band they attach to, for less abrasion. I also wish that the headgear had the shape of a simple circle with four branching straps - the headgear covers more of my head area than I would prefer. That said, this mask is lightweight and it is by far the best one I have tried. I'm staying with this one.

This is\was my first mask. I have a full beard and sleep with my mouth open. The Mask fits great and I sleep like a baby. I also like it because I can put on my ready glasses and read myself to sleep.

My two biggest problems with finding a good fit with a mask are that I have small features and I breathe through my mouth. I've tried several different masks but I keep going back to the Hybrid. (I tried the Liberty but the headgear doesn't snap securely into place, so it doesn't stay on my head!) I'm always tempted to try something new, but I ALWAYS end up throwing it out and going back to the Hybrid. I will admit that it does take a little while to get the headgear straps adjusted just right (and you usually have to re-adjust after washing it) and to figure out the right combination of mask size and nasal pillow size. But it's worth it in the end.

I like the nasal pillows, but am a mouth breather. I thought the hybrid would help. I like the concept but am having trouble with leakage when I change positons. I am new to this CPAP am not crazy about having to wear a mask, but will continue using the hybrid.

I was very happy with this hybrid. It's easy to use and comes with a lot of different options. It wuz a littl ehard to clean, but I will manage.

This is the first mask I have found which actually works for me. Others have done one or more of the following: pinch my nose bridge,blow on my eyes, leak arround my cheeks, or blow out of my mouth. This does none of that.

I found this mask very comfortable, with no pressure points and no leaking on the original seal. The replacement seal did not perform as well, however. Also, after several months of use I noticed that my sleep, though it had fewer interruptions, was not as refreshing as with other masks. I wonder if the air flow is not as good at very low pressures (6-12).

Really great mask. I love my regular Fisher and Paykel Forma Full Face mask, but when I developed an infection on the bridge of my nose, I just couldn't use it. So I ordered this mask as a "get me through 'til it heals" kind of thing. However, I like it so much, I will continue to use it in rotation with my other mask. It is very comfortable, easy to fit, and does a good job even at higher pressures. I only have two complaints: I wish the silicone was a higher grade and a little less sticky... lint and hair stick to it pretty bad. The headgear also needs some kind of quick-release mechanism. It's pretty difficult for someone with limited use of their hands to get off and on easily compared to other masks' headgear. Overall, worth the money and a good buy.

I have used the resmed hybrid successfully for a couple years and decided I better have a backup. This one was cheaper so I went with it. What a mistake. I had to put it on quite tight to prevent leaks and I only use 8cm. Very uncomfortable. They give you 3 sizes of cushions and nose pillows, but in reality the variation is minimal except the width of the mouth and diameter of the nostril. If you have a tall chin like me, forget it. It is really a crime we have to spend big bucks for these masks and cannot return them. The $120 spent represents and entire days wages for me and I doubt it cost respcare more than a buck.
