CPAP and BIPAP are primarily prescribed for sleep apnea. More advance types of BIPAP may be used for providing support ventilation such as ALS, some other nero muscular diseases and respiratory failure.
A humidifier is recommended with CPAP and BIPAP.because the air from the machine is dry..The nose is not able to warm and humidfy the additional air, so more humidity is needed. I recommend heated because heated air is able to carry more moisture.
