Informal Poll - Humidifier or No?

Ok so who uses humidification with CPAP and who does not? If you use humidification, is it cool air or heated? If you do not use a CPAP humidifier, why not? Do you find yourself to be stuffier or more congested than usual?

Hello. I am a newbie, both with my CPAP machine and this site. However, I do use a humidifier and it is heated. I recently had to use another CPAP machine that did not have the humidifier and afterwards I would rather have the humidifier any day over the non humidifier. Without the humidifier my nose was really dry the next day and very sensitive. With the humidification, the amount of mist/steam can be adjusted, and I am a bit stuffy the next morning but it doesn't last long but at least my nose doesn't feel like it's going to bleed due to dryness.

I've been using cpap for 16 years and always use humidification set on low. If I don't use it I wake up with dry mouth.

I am very new to all of this, but my Doctor, the one who had me tested and went over the results etc, prescribed a CPAP with a heated unit. Apparently he does prescribe these units a lot according to the Instructor we had to show us how to use our CPAP

The Instructor mentioned the dry throats, noses etc. I believe the Doctor has learned to avoid a lot of problems for his patients by simply prescribing a CPAP with a heated unit from the start.

It was in the instructions and the Instructor made it clear to us ONLY USE DISTILLED WATER.

I am new to the site, but been using CPAP about 15 years and in the last couple been using a heated humidifier that makes a big difference.  I have it set low to medium depending on the relative humidity in the room.  During my last sleep study I had a cool air one that was a improvement, but didn't seem as effective as the heated one.

Am a nose/mouth sleeper; wear full-face mask (Fisher-Paytel FlexFit 432) attached to CPAP (with locked-in pressure @ 10); have heated humidifier, set to max (5); still wake up with mouth so dry it takes a gallon of H2O to pry open my lips.

Not sure any of that helps with your research... but, good luck!
