    nasal pillow

My pressure is at 15 and I use a nasal mask.  I would like to switch to a nasal pillow, but have been told my pressure is too high.  Is this true and if not could you suggest one please?

    Thank you,

    J

    Re: nasal pillow

Typically, pressures over 13 are not recommended for nasal pillows.  The pillow tends to accelerate pressures because of the smaller aperture and the accelerated speeds can be unbearable at high pressures.

My pressure is set at 15 and I use the Swift LT pillow system.  I've been on the CPAP for four months and have not had any problems except for the initial break-in period.  I do have to replace the pillows every two to three weeks but other than that they work great.  After two or three weeks they don't seem to seal as good and I continue to get small leaks.

Thank you for cotacting CPAP SUPPLY USA.COM

It is possible to use nasal pillows at higher pressures, but I would consider using the Resmed Liberty or the  Hybrid.  This gives you the option of using nasal pillows but also the benefit of a full face mask, allowing you to breathe through your mouth as well.  With the other types of nasal pillows the pressure will be delivered directly into your nostrils, which at 15 will probably be very uncomfortable.

Please check our website, www.cpapsupplyusa.com for the Hybrid and the Liberty .  PLease feel free to call usif you have more questions.

    Re: nasal pillow

I'm intrigued by the Hybrid and Resmed Liberty.  I really like the Swift LT pillow system but I do have problems with keeping my mouth closed.  My pressure is 15/11.  I've tried several types of chin straps but I have to tighten them so much it's very uncomfortable and I still have problems keeping my mouth closed.  It appears that the Hybrid allows you to breath through your mouth or nose.  Is that correct?  It's hard to understand how that works.   Is it hard to get use to the partial face mask if you've only used pillows?  The Resmed liberty doesn't have very good reviews on your web site but the Hybrid does.  Is there much difference between the two?  Thanks for your responses.  They are very helpful.

The Hybrid and the Liberty allow you to breath through your mouth or nose.  People sometimes have difficulty keeping this mask  and pillows in place.  I encourage people that are trulu mouth breathers to try a full face mask.  If you are more comfortable breathing through your mouth, you will be fighting that chin strap all night to open your mouth to breathe.

I am not a big fan of the Liberty or Hybrid.   The two are very similiar. Most of our CPAP users usually do better with a full face mask.
