Have issues with insufficient water to last through the night

I have previously been on a C-PAP machine for 8 years and never gotten relief. I was then given a BI-PAP machine. This has helped a bit. The issue is that I need the machines humidity level set at "5" at night or I wake up with severe dry mouth. The problem arises if I do set it at 5 then about 530AM I awake with a really bad taste in my mouth as the water resivor is empty.  This happens every night and it really hurts my sleeping. I have set my alarm to 3 AM to refill the resivor but then I have issues of spilling water and not being able to go back to sleep. Is there another bi-pap machine available that has larger water capacity? The people who handle my machine are less than helpful (Sleep Solutions in Il).

When I had my c-pap machine there was a way to jury rig an extra water container to the system. But with the reperonics unit it is totally enclosed and no such system can be jury rigged.

I do have a sleeve on the hose going from the machine into my mask but that didn't even come close addressing my problem.

Can someone suggest a unit that might have a larger resivor?

Thank you for contacting CPAP SUPPLYUSA.COM

I would really like to help you with your humidity problem.  I do have a question however.

Are you wearing a nasal mask or a full face mask?  My first response, is to ask if you could possibly be breathing thru your mouth?

Many people are unaware that they are, but the dry mouth is a good indication and a full face mask would allow you to breathe through your mouth and get the humidity you need.  Most people when they hear full face immediately think ,I can't wear one of those, but many people have found they are actually more comfortable with a full face mask.

Dryness is a major problem in wearing CPAP/BIPAP. In fact it is the reason many people give up wearing PAP therapy.  You are to be congratulated for sticking with it.

You can use larger volume humidifers with your BIPAP, but I would focus first on the true cause of the excessive dryness.  You really should not have to wake up to refill your humidifier

Please let me know if we can be of further help.
