Why a humidifier might be needed for a cpap machine

I want to know all symptoms that people have experienced that made them require a humidifier for their machine. I have a regular Remstarplus  M series machine right now.  What would be the best humidifier for this machine  IF  I thought I needed to have one. I don't know if I need one or not. D.Thurman

Thank you for contacting CPAP SUPPLY USA.COM

The air that comes from a CPAP/BIPAP machine is dry.  Typically CPAP users find that it is more comfortable to have humidified and warmed air.  The symptoms or discomfort that are experienced when not using a humidifier are:

    1.  Dry, Stuffy nose  2.  Dry, scratchy throat  3.  Sinus irritation 4. Nose bleeds can occur 5.  The discomfort can be enough that you may take your mask off early and some people will stop wearing CPAP completely.due to the discomfort

I always recommend a heated humidifer, a heated humidifier will give you more humidity. which is usually better.

Respironics makes an M series heated humidifier,  I would suggest getting this one as it fits along side your CPAP.

Please contact us again if we can be of further help.

Is there an adjustment for the temperature of the heater humidifier or is it an automatic program type control?

The series M humidifier has a dial on it to set the humidity between I-7.
