Thank you for contacting CPAP SupplyUSA.COM
Yes, you will need to prescription to get a new mask and headgear. The FDA requires this.
If it has been 8 years since you had a sleep study, you may need to be reevaluated to ensure you are on the most efficient pressure. Increases or decreases in your weight may change what pressure is needed. Also as we age, we lose more muscle tone and this may change your pressure needed to keep the airway open.
Also please keep in mind that most insurance companies will allow you to have a new CPAP after 5 years. Have you had your CPAP checked to make sure it is delivering the correct pressure?
If you are absolutely against having another sleep study, you can always ask your current physcian to write you a new prescription.
For best fit,and seal we recommend replacing your mask every 6 months and most insurances will allow this. If you are using a humidifier,we recommend replacing the water chamber every 6 month also. The tubing should be replaced every 6 months. If you have insurance, most insurances will allow these replacements.
Please contact us again if we can be of further help. Please feel free to call if you have questions regarding billing your insurance or paying out of pocket, we can help you
