    Yes it does get better. I have been using a CPAP machine for about 14 years now. The first two weeks were miserable. I thought I would never sleep again. I finally used Ambien for two nights (had some left over from my sleep study - the first sleep study I only slept for 30 minutes so had to do it again...

  • My Husband has sustained much damage due to apnea

    My husband is 65 yrs old & we are guessing that he has had sleep apnea for several yrs now. He has just now been diagnosed as having a most severe case (via sleep study) & we are picking up a BIPAP machine on Monday. He has sustained quite a bit of damage inasmuch as he cannot function normally...

    Honestly, Jessie, I think most people, when they are told their apnea must be treated with CPAP, have concerns and almost a period of mourning that resemble what you are going through right now. The treatment (CPAP), while effective and life-saving, is the proverbial "hard pill to swallow"...
