Fisher & Paykel introduces the Pilairo™ Nasal Pillow Mask, a lightweight, easy to use, and technology driven nasal pillow mask. The Pilairo™ nasal pillow mask provides what Fisher & Paykel calls an “AirPillow” seal that is 3D technology in which the silicone seal has variable levels of thickness. Variable Thickness Silicone (VTS™) has a micro-fine membrane that self inflates with elevated efficiency, comfort, and durability. The self inflation of the AirPillow silicone seal is activated by the CPAP flow and contours to the nose.

The Fisher & Paykel Pilairo was motivated by the world’s lightest bird, the hummingbird for its smooth flight. The user will find the same lightweight, airy movement with the Pilairo as it was designed to provide a good night sleep without the irritations most nasal pillow masks encompass. The inflated pillows will hover around the nose supplying therapy with more optimal movement. The Stretchwise™ headgear is latex-free and will automatically adapt to the client. The headgear is one size only and convenient with no manual adjustments. A quiet diffuser that allows the air to flow away from the patient as well as a bed partner is an added plus for the innovative Fisher & Paykel Pilairo™ Nasal Pillow Mask.

I am a fairly new cpap machine user. I have tried 9 masks before trying the pilairo mask. Since I am always moving as I sleep, I was having a horrible time keeping a seal on the masks. Then I tried the pilairo. It is a winner!!! No matter how much I move around, this mask keeps it's seal. I have gone from 2 to 3 hours of the mask on, to now 7 or more hours without breaking the seal. Once you try this one you won't want any other mask.It is so easy to put on and so comfortable. My machine pressure is set at 13. I think I read this mask pressure range is 4 to 25. Thank You for finally letting me have a good nights sleep.

I've had this about a week now, and love it. Bought it because it's time for a new mask, and last one was "fine", but I wanted to know what else was out there. When it's time to replace this one, I won't look for other options - I will simply re-order what I currently have. Extremely light in weight, and maintains it's seal without strapping, strapping, strapping the thing to my head. I do not have leakage, and I do not have deep strap lines on my face in the morning. It's not pictured well in the photos, but the way it works is there are two tubes about the size of small hollow ear plugs with holes at the end that go into your nostrils. They are made out of very thin and completely flexible plastic - literally the thickness of a super sturdy plastic bag, but even more flexible. The air comes through, expanding the "plugs" and sealing them inside the nostrils. Because the airflow internally creates the seal, the strap across the back of your head is almost irrelevant. Still need it, but it simply holds the overall mask in place, and has nothing to do with creating the seal. The only people I can see who MAY have issues with this mask would be those who (1) don't like anything directly in their nostrils (2) those who habitually take their masks off in their sleep (because this one would be very easy to remove), or (3) those who prefer the airflow through the mouth. I don't fall into any of those categories, which is probably why I'm completely hooked on this design. However, if you're removing your mask and you're certain it's because of feeling claustrophobic, or the tightness of your current straps hurt, or the weight of your current mask feels heavy, I'd suggest you take a serious look at this one. It's minimal size, minimal weight, and minimal pressure against your face / back of your head might alleviate your impulse to take it off while you're asleep. Hope this helps. Good Luck on your search!!

One size fits most is unsatifactory. I need to be able to adjust.

Very comfortable and good for side sleepers. Have used it as a replacement for a full face mask successfully.

Good mask, but strap is too small. I have a large head. Made myself a new strap for my size from 1/4 inch flat sewing elastic and adjusted to fit. works great now. I do wish F/P would make the strap adjustable, it wouldn't be hard

Swift FX was the best until the Pilairo came out. Any Swift FX users who try the Pilairo will agree. This pillow will set the new standard in nasal pillow masks. This IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE MASK that I have tried to date. I have 5 different pillow masks, 6 different Nasal masks and one full. This is it! Unless you have a super big head or super high pressure, you should love this mask. Silicon or rubber is the softest. Swift FX used to be the softest, but now this.\ If you are a nasal pillow fan, you must try this. If you have never tried a pillow or tried one and didn't like it, give this one a try. I cannot say enough good things about this mask. This is now my mask of choice.

Seems like a great idea if allowed to "float" but the head strap is too small. If you have an XL head the pressure against your nose may be uncomfortable. It is for me. I am going to try and find something creative to make it larger or more loose.

This would easily be a 5-star rating if only the headgear was adjustable. It's fine when it is new, but it soon stretches and becomes too loose.

This mask is awesome. At last I can sleep like a person who does not have sleep apnea. It is so light, you don't even know you are wearing it. Perfect seal, perfect comfort, perfect durability. You can move around and it stays put and does not leak. I have 7 years experience with sleep apnea masks and machines and the Pilairo is by far the most incredible tool yet. At Last!

The nasal pillow only lasted less than 30 days before it ripped. Number of times it would come off the mask while sleeping

I just received this mask and absolutely love it! I had another nasal pillow mask and could not stand the straps behind my ears. My DME recommended the Pilairo and I have been able to sleep at night for at least 6-7 hours a night. I would highly recommend this mask especially if you're a side or stomach sleeper.

Don't breath out so dag gone hard and it won't be loud. Good mask. Works fine for me. One thin strap to hold it on, NICE! Swivel part will need some work so it will turn smoother. May they will fix that soon. Otherwise. Good Mask.

I'm a 20 year CPAP user so I've tried them all. The Pilairo is the gold standard! Best one out there! Super comfortable; no leaks; no nostril irritation; ultra lightweight; self-adjusting; it just plain works better than anything else on the market. Try it and your search for the perfect nasal pillow will be over! I couldn't be happier!

The pillows don't last long went through 3 of them. They all ripped in the same place. Cheap garbage. Love the idea but the replacement cushions are making someone rich.

I have been on CPAP therapy for 12 years now and have used or tried many different types of masks. My provider gave me one of these Pilariro nasal masks to try because they were out of my usual type of nasal masks. I was immediately hooked! I love this mask! This is, by far, the most comfortable CPAP mask that I have ever used! I do not have any leakage and my wife really appreciates the fact that she no longer has air blowing by into her face. This mask looks like it would be uncomfortable, at best, but I assure you it is not. I sleep about 90% of the time on my side and I really don't even feel the mask when I turn over and reposition myself. This is by far the most comfortable mask that I have ever worn and if technology is ever able to make something even more comfortable than this - I will be absolutely stunned!

I've had the pilairo mask for about 6 months and it's the best mask I've found in over 9 years. No air leaks to wake me up in the middle of the night, and I've never had the noise problem a couple of others have complained about. The only suggestion I would make is to put adjustable ear loops rather than the strap. The adjustable ear loops would solve a lot of problems with fit and they are very comfortable to wear.

I can't imagine why some reviewers say this is noisy; I hear absolutely no noise at all. The pillow is so soft I barely feel it. The only problem is the headgear is a bit tight and I have a small head. Someone said it stretches with time; perhaps the manufacturer will make it adjustable if we tell them. I was using a ResMed Swift FX and constantly during the night I was adjusting it for leakage, this one does not leak. It was indeed a pleasure to use! Thank you.

I have had my Pilairo mask less than a week now,and love the ideal of one strap, flexible plastic, and light weight..The issues I have is it's to big for my small head...I had to sew mine and make smaller. One strap is a good ideal, but you need small medium, and large. One size fit most is not a good ideal..

After 5 years of CPAP use and struggling with a total of 9 different masks this one is simply amazing! When it first came I thought it looked bulky and was disappointed...when I put it on I thought I was in heaven! No air leaking, and I barely feel it. One night I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and forgot I was wearing it...almost pulled the machine off my night stand. I never wake at night needing to adjust it. I have no marks on my face in the morning at all! I have always had either bruising, temporary discoloration in the mornings or lines on my face from all the masks I have tried. I will not even entertain another mask...this is it for me!

I love this nasal pillow mask except for one thing - I need a slightly larger size mask because I wake up with redness and soreness on one nostril and the bridge of my nose. i finally had to switch back to my old set-up when a laceration developed. I hope that you will consider making a larger size or incorporate this design in another model. I have used everything from a full face mask to nasal prongs in the last 11 years using bipap.

This mask is too loud. Been a happy Swift FX user for a couple years now. My Swift is aging and the Pilairo came highly recommended so I though I would give it a try. Upon receipt I hooked it up and immediately noticed that it is a lot noisier than the Swift. I liked how comfortable it felt, it is at least as comfy as the FX, maybe slightly better, but I just couldn't overcome the noise level. My wife even commented on it immediately. She is use to the quiet Swift and didn't think she could handle listening to the Pilairo all night. It was also excessive for me and after only 10 minutes I had to shut things down and switch back to the FX. So, never even slept with it, not gonna work for me due to the noise level. Back to the awesome Swift FX. Maybe some day someone will develop something better but for me the Swift FX is the best out there. Comfortable, seldom leaks and super quiet...

Buy mask assurance if you want to try this thing. It feels very comfortable, but the amount of air I get all night seems to get blocked. I woke up several times with my heart racing. I increased the pressure to try to alleviate the problem, it didn't work either. Swift FX is still the best mask I know of.

PROS: - Feather lightweight - Exhaust absolutely quiet CONS: - One size fits all strap does not work for XL heads, it is way too tight on my nose and leaves red marks on the nose and around it. This must be corrected by F&P - the strap has to be adjustable, or at least have an option for a larger strap size.

A real winner. Lightyears ahead of previous nasal pillow designs. Heartily recommended.

This is the 3rd mask I have used over the last 6 years and is the best ever. I do use a lubricant to keep my nose from getting too dry but it works Great.

This mask was very comfortable, lightweight and I would have gotten rid of my "strap head hairdo". One HUGE problem though, it did not flow enough air. I breathe at 49 lpm and this mask just could not keep up. It's a shame and a waste of $100, but back to the Swift II for me... I am giving it 2 stars because it is a great mask, I just wished it would flow enough air for me.

Pilairo is one of the best masks I've ever used. When I put it on, it is so light weight I do not even know I have a mask on(and I use very high pressurs). Any one that gets this mask should be instructed on how to use it by a qualified Sleep consultant.
